I first saw this with my 21-year-old son, who shares my love of schlocky B-movies. Yes, the acting and special effects are pretty bad, but we both found ourselves caught up in the spirit of the storyline. Our verdict? "Teenagers from Outer Space" has a nice little movie inside it, trying desperately to get out. In a way, it's like many of Ed Wood's movies -- loaded with good intentions, but the filmmaker just doesn't have the chops (or budget) to pull it off. Perhaps if more people had been involved in it (Tom Graeff, according to IMDB, handled acting/writing/directing/editing/cinematography duties, was involved in the "special" FX and music coordination, and produced the whole thing), it might have turned out better. Nevertheless, TFOS gets five stars, simply because it's so damn entertaining!
