This is great sleaze from 1962. Schlock-meister Ray Dennis Steckler directs father ("William Watters") and son (Arch Hall, Jr.) in what is now, to us safely seated in the 21st century, the cliche story of the rise of the hayseed rock-and-roller to superstardom. Arch Hall, Jr., of "Eegah!" and "The Sadist" fame, stars as Bud Eagle. Bud hasn't been off the bus from S. Dakota to L.A. an hour before a chance meeting gives him a shot on a variety television show. His crooked agent, and his thug Steak, quickly snatch Bud up and milk him for all he's worth. Arch Hall, Jr., looks like a sour-faced cabbage patch doll, but has a strange charm. He's kind enough to bleat out some of his bland, pre-British Invasion tunes. This is a great late-night movie. Recommended!
