A lot of the younger folks will think this movie is kinda corny ( also older folks ) but this movie does star a young Tuesday Weld playing the teenage girl Dori who is such so darn cute that you want to pick her up and give her a big hug and pinch her cheek. The plot of the movie isn't to complicated, after Dori's totally square father finds out she spent her allowance on candy, ice cream, sodas and Elvis Presley songs on the juke box he cancels her charge account at the dress shop. Of course Dori needs a new dress to wear to the big dance so she embarks on a hare brained loan sharking scheme to raise money. The fact that she is just a pretty girl and a Stepford wife in waiting means she is no good at math and screws up. To relieve the tension of the plot there are numerous performances of big name rock and roll stars of the era. Dori lip sync.'s a couple of Connie Francis tunes rather badly but you can forgive her because she is just so darn cute. Well to everyone's surprise she gets the new dress and it is off to the big dance. There are quite few good performances by Frankie Lyman, Chuck Berry , the Moonglows and LaVerne Baker in the movie. Alan Freed who was a big time disc jockey and rock show promoter before he was scape-goated by the record and radio industry during the payola scandals ( which ruined his career ) also appears in the picture. Overall this is a fairly good example of teen rock and roll movies which were popular at the time. Good clean fun.
